Imported from Provence, our soaps have been produced for centuries under the guidelines set forth in 1688 by King Louis XIV. Since then the people of Provence have created, by hand, a high quality, natural soap made from carefully selected oils (primarily olive oil), excluding all chemical coloring or preservation agents. Cooked in large boiling cauldrons the soap paste is then put cut to dry under the "mistrel", Provence's Northern wind. The result of this traditional process is a natural, gentle soap, the "savon de marseille", fit for all skin types. At Le Marché we offer honey, orange, almond, and lavender.
